We’ve all heard the famous saying ‘a dog is a man’s best friend’, but dogs can also be the perfect companions for women, especially successful ones.

Let’s meet the bark behind some of the world’s most successful women and see if their dogs’ traits match their owners.

Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth’s corgis always played a key role in her life, following her closely and keeping her company. Corgis are incredibly self-assured, standing tall with the confidence of a much larger breed. The Queen herself, although only 5’4”, exhibited unmatched confidence and impact. Their companionship seemed destined.

Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey, an American talk show host, television producer, actress, and author, rose from poverty to become a philanthropist. She has donated millions to education in the United States, supporting organizations like the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) and The Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta. In 2013, Winfrey received the Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honour. She owns cocker spaniels and springer spaniels, breeds known for their social nature and intelligence. Oprah’s incomparable stage presence and impressive career make these breeds a perfect match for her.

Helen Keller

Helen Keller, an American author, disability rights advocate, political activist, and lecturer, lost her sight and hearing after an illness at 19 months old. She had a German Shepherd, a breed known for its protectiveness and strong work ethic. This dog perfectly complemented Helen’s hard-working nature, as she wrote several books about her life and began lecturing (with an interpreter) primarily on behalf of the American Foundation for the Blind, for which she later established a $2 million endowment fund. Her lecture tours took her around the world several times.

Betty White

Betty White, an American actress and comedian, had a career that spanned almost seven decades. She earned the Guinness World Record twice for the longest TV career by a female entertainer in 2014 and 2018. Betty had a golden retriever, a breed known for its playful and fun nature. With her comedic genius and fun-loving pup, their life together must have been full of laughs.

Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart, an American retail businesswoman, writer, and television personality, has supported various charities and donated $5 million to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York to found The Martha Stewart Center for Living. She has many dogs, including a French bulldog. French bulldogs are known for their stubbornness but also their affection. Martha’s passionate pursuit of her business ventures and her charitable nature reflect the traits of her beloved French bulldog.
